“Dear Yenta, Where are some places to celebrate 4th of July in Los Angeles?”
Here are some dynamite spots across LA and The Valley to celebrate!!
Hollywood Bowl: This venue is so popular, it celebrates the 4th of July for three entire nights: July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. This year, John Fogerty is the special musical guest. The event starts at 7:30, and you must buy tickets in advanced for assigned seating.
Queen Mary: Performers, dancing, several DJ’s, outdoor nightclub, radio stations, and lots and lots of fireworks. If you go early, you can spend the day touring and shopping on the Queen. Then at 9 pm, the fireworks start. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for kids. There are also festivities on Friday and Sunday.
CBS Studios’ Fourth of July Fireworks Festival: on Radford in Studio City, this is truly a family event with magic shows, a kids’ zone, strolling pirates, tattooing (spray on) and more. Of course, there will be music and fireworks as well. Tickets are available at the Studio City farmer’s market or online at the chamber website. Get them soon – there may not any left on the day of the event. Adults are $15, and kids are $8. (Under 6 are free). There is also VIP seating if you’d like to sit on the rooftops.
Rose Bowl: This year, the AmericaFest will be a fabulous celebration of Independence Day with music, food, family fun (with rides!) and fireworks. General admission is $13 per person (7 and under are free), and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Outside food court opens at 2 pm, stadium opens at 6 pm, and fireworks start promptly at 9:05 pm, $15 cash for parking.Palisades Americanism Parade/Pacific Palisades Parade: There are bands, performers, and if you can believe it – skydivers! Old-fashioned Independence Day Parade at 2 pm, 7 pm entertainment, 9 pm fireworks. Parade on Sunset Blvd. in Pacific Palisades between via de la Paz and Drummond St., Entertainment and fireworks at Palisades Charter High School.
Fireworks Extravaganza, Marina del Rey: A traditional fireworks extravaganza over the main channel in Marina del Rey is programmed to patriotic music broadcast over FM radio KXLU 88.9 and relayed over loudspeakers in Chase Park. 9 pm at Chase Park, 13650 Mindanao Way (1 block west of Admiralty Way), Marina del Rey. Also viewable from Fisherman’s Village and Marina Beach. It’s free!
4th of July BBQ at the Aquarium of the Pacific: Enjoy the Aquarium at night and get a fish-eye view of the Queen Mary fireworks. Guests can also choose special combo tickets to enjoy admission to the aquarium plus an Independence Day B-B-Q buffet with home-style entrees hot off the grill and decadent deserts. Aquarium opens at 9 am. Aquarium admission for the evening will be $11.95 for everyone after 5 pm. Regular admission is $20.95 for adults, $11.95 for children 3-11, $17.95 for seniors, Aquarium plus dinner is $34 adult, $27 child. Advance reservations required for dinner.
Annual Dennis P. Zine July 4th Extravaganza in Woodland Hills: Huge Fourth of July fireworks festival in the West Valley with food vendors, play zone, a free concert and fireworks show. Concert begins at 6 pm, fireworks to live music at 9:05 pm at Warner Park, 5800, Topanga Canyon Blvd. It’s free!! Parking: $15 in any of the Warner Center structures between Topanga and Canoga or Califa and Oxnard
